Joined here about 1 month back. And within this one month period, learning JKD from sifu tithira was amazing and it gives me a very good self confident and self control. I do see a good change with me. The technical teaching of JKD is very well taught with good break downs for better learning. This place is superb.
A very big thank you for conducting an excellent session. We all learnt a lot and and certainly felt empowered. Once again great job and keep up the good work you three do to protect the women and children of Sri Lanka. Hope many corporates will be encouraged to conduct such sessions which will benefit their valued female staff.
In 2014, I was fortunate to be able to travel to India. During my stay there, I assisted my Instructor in presenting a JKD Seminar, as well as a program to the Indian Army. While presenting , I met a JKD instructor from Sri Lanka, Tithira Perera. Sifu Perera invited me to return to Sri Lanka in 2015. During my stay in Sri Lanka we presented a two day Street Survival Seminar, conducted a free Women’s self defense seminar, and trained 102 Military and Special Forces soldiers. Tithira introduced me to his family, his students and his culture and I instantly felt welcome. During my tenure in Sri Lanka, we strengthened our friendship established in India and worked together to hone our skills. I had the opportunity to not only train Tithira during this period, but to also witness him in the process of teaching as well. I find Tithira to be a very humble and patient instructor with excellent skills and a strong desire to improve in his art. Tithira has a unwavering interest in developing the complete martial artist; both body and mind. I would strongly encourage anyone in the Columbo area interested in improving their fitness level, confidence, self esteem, and self-defense skills, try a class at Sri Lanka School of Jeet Kune Do with Sifu Tthira. You will not be disappointed.
I began my training in Jeet Kune Do several years ago under the instruction of Sifu Tithira Perera. Over time, he has helped me perfect my technique with a very patient approach. He adapts his style of teaching to the aptitude of the student, from the beginner to the more advanced. I have been impressed with the impact the Sri Lanka School of Jeet Kune Do has had on our community. In addition to serving the needs of JKD students in a group setting, the School of JKD has been involved in providing instruction to our military and special forces as well as free Women’s Self-Defense Seminars. Since my involvement with Sifu Tithira, I have been blessed to be awarded instructorship positions in both the Escape to Gain Safety Program, the focus for the Women’s Self Defense Seminar, and the Rapid Assault Tactics Program, a program originally designed for the Navy SEAL’s. Unlike many other JKD instructor’s, Sifu Tithira’s lineage traces directly back to Sijo Bruce Lee. His passion for teaching has been apparent from our first meeting. I strongly encourage anyone with an interest in the martial arts to explore Jeet Kune Do and the teachings of Tithira Perera.
It’s us who should be thanking you and most grateful for your invaluable expertise to teach the ladies the art of self defence! The kind sentiments expressed can only inspire us to do more good and again your impressive initiative is an admirable value addition. Our officials was very appreciative too and spoke highly of your effort.May all of you continue to be blessed in abundance.
Today I joined the seminar in Galle and I loved every minute of it!! My only regret is that I was late and so I missed some parts of the training. The three guys running the event are one of a kind! Very professional, great instruction given, friendly. They are very motivated and very good at what they do. You feel all the time you are in good hands. If i had to resume my experience today at the seminar in one word I would say it was EMPOWERING.Really really cool stuff we learnt .Wish you guys all the very best and keep doing the great work. Many blessings to you!Thank you Tithira, Prageeth, Gihan
I got introduced to Kettlebell( KB) training in 2013 at a gym in London.I got so attracted to KB especially because of KB Swing exercise. To give you some motivation I moved from 101kg to 80kg by KB training and following the right diet! I had to take many sessions with a PT(Personal Trainer) to learn the technique. But after doing this regularly I noticed some pains in my lower back and knees hence wanted to check the technique with some other trainers too. I went to some certified KB instructors in the UK. Even after following their instructions I still did not see much improvement. Then I recently noticed some videos and pictures of Sifu Tithira with KBs . I had a chat with him over social media and explained my situation. He asked me to send a video of mine performing KB swings. He spotted my mistakes instantly and gave me instructions to make corrections of form. After following his instructions it made a big different in terms of pains and also the general feeling of performing the exercise. I really felt the right momentum of KB swings! It is a great exercise when doing it with the right technique. I’m so thankful to Sifu Tithira about teaching me the right technique and helping me to continue my exercise routine with KBs. He is so enthusiastic about KB training and has practical knowledge of it. I do highly recommend him for anyone looking to learn KB training.
Our experience with the School of Jeet Kune Do was an experience that would always be valued and never forgotten. Our instructors showed the highest levels of professionalism and beyond to teach us the skills and techniques we were to learn in the programme, they went beyond the line of mere instructors to ensure that we learnt the techniques. We will always value the friendliness and dedication to the art showed by our instructors Shifu Tithira and Shifu Prageeth. I look forward to further opportunities to train with them.
Yesterday we were practicing about how to use grappling effectively in a street fight. Learnt some tips & tricks in grappling and it was one of an awesome days in my practicing history. Most importantly we practiced friendly and in-depth. I personally recommend you also to just visit and feel the difference. And wish School of JKD, wish you all the very best for putting a true effort to make a difference rather than being traditional.
Once you start you can’t stop! I started attending classes at The Shed in Ladies Self Defense, facilitated by instructors from School of JKD, once a week in January this year; and enjoyed every bit of it from day one. I still attend the same class, and have no plan on quitting any time soon. In fact, I have now upped the frequency to thrice a week. Am now at a point where I look forward to class so much, that I get very disappointed if I am unable to attend for any reason. I’ve started feeling different now– more confident and sure of myself, more energetic, and am experiencing increased levels of strength and stamina. Mind you, the effects are not just physical –higher levels of concentration and better control over emotions are effects as well. The instructors are very very professional, patient and always full of energy. Willing to explain concepts and moves over and over should we not understand, and that too to each person individually should the need arise. I highly recommend this facility to anyone considering joining. Definitely rating 5 stars!
